Manual Machinist - 2nd and 3rd Shift

Position Title: Manual Machinist - 2nd and 3rd Shift (Confidential Client)

Location: Indianapolis, IN | On-site

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation

• Pay Rate: $22/hr. - $28/hr. (They will need to be highly skilled and check every box to get more than $28/hr. though.)

Position Summary

There are 2 openings per shift: 2nd shift- 3:30PM – 11PM; 3rd shift- 10:30PM – 7AM.

These candidates need to be STRONG manual mill or lathe folks. CNC experience does not matter at all for these openings and there is not time to train CNC machinists on the manual machines.

Primary Functions

• Operate a variety of machining equipment including manual lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, welders, and balancing equipment


• Perform machining tasks such as turning, milling, threading, boring, drilling, grinding, and dynamic balancing


• Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate machining and assembly of components


• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.) to verify dimensions and tolerances


• Perform welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, Oxy-Acetylene) and metal spray processes as needed


• Document measurements, calculations, and work performed in accordance with company standards


• Maintain a safe work environment while operating equipment and completing assigned tasks

Must-Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent required


• Previous experience working as a Manual Machinist


• 3+ years of related machining or mechanical experience, or equivalent combination of education and training


• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications


• Proficient in basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, tolerances, and measurements


• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in non-standard situations


• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment


• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a strong sense of urgency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certificate or associate degree in a mechanical/electrical field preferred


• Experience with “old school” machine setup methods using gauges for setup adjustments
