Schedule: Days and Nights shifts available

About the Job:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Machinist to join our talented team. As a Manual Machinist, you will play a pivotal role in creating custom components and parts that are critical to the success of our job shop fabrication projects. You will work with state-of-the-art as well as historic machining equipment and collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals to produce high-quality, precise, and custom machined parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drills to produce components according to specifications and project requirements.
  • Work with close tolerances .001+/-
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine the machining processes and tooling required.
  • Perform precision machining tasks such as turning, facing, threading, grooving, and contouring to achieve accurate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure proper cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cut.
  • Inspect and measure finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to maintain optimal production and quality levels.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to provide input on manufacturability and feasibility of designs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, and perform routine machine maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and optimal performance.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining is preferred.
  • Prior experience with precision inspection equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges.
  • Proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances of less than .001”Offer a portfolio of successfully completed machining projects.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • In-depth knowledge of manual machining techniques, tooling selection, and cutting parameters.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and quality control processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues independently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand, bend, lift, and operate machinery for extended periods.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude toward learning and professional growth.
