Job Description


The Manufacturing CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for a variety of machining centers, including vertical, horizontal, and multi-axis machines. This role collaborates closely with engineering, production, setup personnel, and quality teams to establish efficient manufacturing processes, design tooling and fixtures, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure the production of high-quality components that meet customer and engineering requirements.



Responsibilities



  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements to develop CNC programs that meet design and manufacturing standards.

  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for Vertical Machining Centers (including 4th Axis and Trunnion configurations), Horizontal Machining Centers, and 5-Axis machining equipment.

  • Develop cost-effective and efficient manufacturing processes that maximize productivity while maintaining quality requirements.

  • Design and implement fixtures, workholding solutions, and manufacturing processes that ensure repeatable and reproducible results.

  • Select appropriate cutting tools, tooling strategies, speeds, and feeds to optimize machining performance and tool life.

  • Design and develop custom forms, special tools, or tooling solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce cycle times.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to setup technicians and machine operators during production.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Operations teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve process performance.

  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, tooling, and production issues to minimize downtime and maintain delivery schedules.

  • Verify program accuracy through testing, simulation, and first article inspections.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost reduction, throughput, and operational excellence.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment while adhering to company safety standards and procedures.



Required Skills



  • Advanced knowledge of CNC programming using Mastercam.

  • Experience programming Vertical Machining Centers, Horizontal Machining Centers, and 5-Axis machining equipment.

  • Strong understanding of machine setups and operation of CNC equipment utilizing Fanuc and Haas controls.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.

  • Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards.

  • Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) for both English and Metric systems.

  • Knowledge of inspection methods, measurement techniques, and quality control practices.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.



Education & Experience



  • Minimum of 3 years of CNC setup, programming, or machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of machine shop practices, machining techniques, tooling selection, process development, and fixture design.

  • Experience machining a wide range of materials, including aluminum, steel, plastics, stainless steel, titanium, and other exotic alloys.

  • Experience supporting production machining and new product introductions is preferred.

  • Technical training, trade school certification, or equivalent manufacturing experience preferred.
