Job Description - Manufacturing Controls Engineer


We, at Leggett & Platt Incorporated, are searching for a Manufacturing Controls Engineer within our Manufacturing Engineering team to help support our Automotive business.  Did you know we are the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry? That’s right! Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Motors, Actuators and Massage Systems. As a Manufacturing Controls Engineer you will have the opportunity to performs engineering work related to the design, development, programming, integration, commissioning, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment and control systems. Responsible for electrical and controls engineering activities supporting production operations, new equipment development, process improvements, machine troubleshooting, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve production, quality, safety, and cost objectives through effective application of automation and control technologies.


 


 


Skills Required


Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience. Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, industrial power distribution, PLC programming, HMI development, motion control, robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical schematics, automation networks, project management, troubleshooting, and technical communication.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Design, program, commission, and support automated manufacturing control systems.
Design electrical control panels, machine wiring, and control architectures.
Develop and maintain electrical drawings and technical documentation.
Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robots, servo systems, and automated equipment.
Support production through equipment troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
Implement new manufacturing technologies and automation projects.
Train maintenance and production personnel on control systems.
Support ECR and MCR implementation activities.
Ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Work in both office and manufacturing environments. Frequent interaction with electrical equipment, machinery, and automated systems.
