Job Description - Manufacturing Engineer CNC


SWJ Technologie specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking Manufacturing Engineer CNC as a supplier in the automotive industry specializing in drive shafts. This is a direct hire role based in Charleston, SC that requires onsite presence. PURPOSE: 
Responsible for the manufacturing processes of sub-assemblies and finished product for a designated manufacturing area. Focus on achieving key product indicators including safety, cost, quality and delivery. Manage continuous improvement projects and determine root cause of production issues. Work is of the technical nature where independent judgment is used and decisions are made within the limits of general practice policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review and analyze safety, operational, quality and maintenance reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, cost and safety.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing Process Flow Diagrams and PFMEA plans.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation e.g. work instructions and training guidelines.
  • Define standard work for all processes in area of responsibility.
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, Kanban, poke-yoke, visual management, single-piece flow.
  • Utilize structured problem solving tools e.g. A3, 5Y, 8D, Ishikawa, PDCA, Six Sigma DMAIC, Shainin, etc.
  • Work within cross functional teams to support all aspects of manufacturing.
  • Support plant-wide commitment to meet all International Standards IATF 16949, ISO 14001, VDA, etc.
  • Develop and maintain parameters and recipes for existing and new products and processes.
  • Analyze product variation and implement process capability improvements.
  • Performs special projects as required.
  • Able to launch new equipment.
  • Able to program and troubleshoot CNC Machines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred or AS degree in an Engineering discipline with relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing, assembly, and CNC processes
  • Knowledge of materials and methods of manufacturing
  • 3-5 years of experience in an automated or semi-automated manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics and pneumatic diagrams
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems


REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
  • Understanding of manufacturing and CNC processes
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with Tier I and/or Tier II automotive supplier specifications
  • Experience with PLC logic, vision, force/distance control and monitoring, torque and marking systems
  • Familiarity with friction welding, assembly, balancing, and/or electro-static painting, and CNC processes
  • Demonstrated structured problem solving skills
  • Ability to program/troubleshoot Siemens based controllers

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
  • Location: Charleston, SC
  • Schedule: Mon- Fri, 40 hours/week
  • Assignment Start: ASAP, direct hire position
