Manufacturing Engineering Manager

will plan, organize and manage the Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Support functions providing engineering direction for the Assembly and Manufacturing Process. Focus will be on manufacturing systems, processes, standards, tooling, all designed to attain maximum production efficiency, at high-quality standards in the most cost-effective manner.

The Nuts and BoltsProvide day-to-day direction to Manufacturing Engineering DepartmentProvide management reports that track performance to either short-term or long-term goalsParticipate in the VSM and Kaizen activities including creation of visual indicators of operating conditionsDevelop, design, specify, test and maintain records for production equipment, tooling, gauges, jigs, and fixtures to optimize manufacturing process, including safety, quality and efficiency by studying product requirements and applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materialsImprove manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work-flow, space requirements, and equipment layoutDevelop capital equipment requests (CAPEX's) for assembly and manufacturing projectsProject manage assembly and manufacturing projectsDesign and analyze labor and space requirements, product design, quality requirements, workflow, layout of equipment and workspace to maximize efficiency, consistency and effectiveness of manufacturing and assembly operations and projectsWork with maintenance team and outside contractors to improve the performance of current equipment and processes, improve performance, and minimize equipment downtimeProvide design support for manufacturing projectsKeep the leadership regularly updated of the key metrics and progress of each projectRequired Credentials

Ten plus (10+) years of experience in truck body or other similar sheet metal fabrication industry is strongly preferredExperience leading a team of manufacturing / industrial / technical support engineers and providing maintenance and facilities supportExperience in launching production lines and specifying automated processesExperience with DFM, DFMEA, and PFMEA and their applications is preferredExperience with Lean Manufacturing is preferredMust demonstrate ability to influence across areas, engage peers, direct reports in problem solvingSkilled in use of Solidworks or 3D modeling applications as well as MS Office suiteHow We Make an Impact
