The primary role of the Lead ME Technician is to support Manufacturing Engineering by helping to drive continuous improvement in the fabrication and assembly operations. This position will assist in the conceptualization and execution of capital projects and development of manufacturing methods and processes. The position will support operations, maintenance and management of the facility, paint lines and capital assets (equipment, machinery, building, etc.) as assigned. Assist with installation and relocation of new and existing machinery, tooling, racking, workstations and other equipment. Assist in the investigation, troubleshooting and resolution of technical and process problems. Take necessary measures to improve the quality of product and information in the respective area of responsibility. Assist in the determination of manufacturing methods, machinery or capacity to produce parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies for new products or customer orders consistent with overall plant objectives. Confer with engineering and production personnel on design changes and new product development programs. Evaluate, implement and troubleshoot the operation of new and existing machinery, tooling, and other equipment. Support plant process changes via the Change Management Process. Write, review and revise work instructions and method sheets. Generate, investigate, evaluate and implement cost improvement ideas and opportunities. Gather data, information, time studies, and general process knowledge to help determine best utilization of equipment and facilities, safe work practices, ergonomic improvements, efficient material flow, work cell layouts and personnel requirements. Safety responsibilities include safety and housekeeping objectives and audits. Follow all safety rules and procedures and report unsafe conditions to line management. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to noise and frequently exposed to dust. High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environments Minimum 2 years of experience in Metal Fabrication, Assembly or Maintenance 3 years experience with AutoCAD. 3 years Prior experience in manufacturing engineering capacity 1 year Lean training experience 3 years welding experience Minimum 2 years experience with hand tools and power tools in an industrial environment Minimum 2 years experience operating industrial powered vehicles including fork trucks and/or scissor lifts Position Criteria: -Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills (written, verbal, computer) required -Demonstrated proficiency with basic manufacturing tools such as Lean, Six-Sigma, problem solving/decision making. -Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office -Demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support customer and manufacturing requirements -Familiarity with Fabrication Machinery (ex. Prima Power Punch, EHRT Bus Punching, Trumpf Fiber Laser, Franklin Bus Punching, etc.) -Demonstrated ability to influence others without authority
