Manufacturing Machine Technician

About the Role
The Manufacturing Machine Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining cold forming and heading equipment to produce high-precision components from steel, aluminum, and copper. This position plays a key role in ensuring that production parts meet strict quality standards and engineering specifications. Commonly searched terms for this role include Cold Heading Operator, Machine Setup Technician, Precision Manufacturing Technician, and Metal Forming Technician.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate cold forming heading machines, including 1 Die 2 Blow headers
• Plan and execute the sequence of operations based on engineering drawings and production requirements
• Monitor equipment performance and product output to ensure conformance with specifications
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or process issues to minimize downtime
• Follow established procedures for machine setup and cold heading process development
• Record detailed documentation of machine setups, production runs, and maintenance activities using computer-based systems
• Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in production quality and machine efficiency

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Training or certification in cold heading equipment setup and operation
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and part blueprints
• Skilled in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers
• Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on quality and detail
• Experience documenting processes and procedures in a manufacturing setting
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
