Job Summary:

Eastern Wholesale Fence is looking for a Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic that is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment, tooling, facility and other related systems within our manufacturing plants, ensuring optimal production uptime and consistent product quality by preventing, or identifying and resolving issues when they occur. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Preventative Maintenance:

Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on production machinery according to established schedules, including lubrication, cleaning, and component checks. 

Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as replacing filters, belts, bearings, and other wear items. 

Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and parts used. 

Inspecting, adjusting and calibrating equipment precisely to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.

Troubleshooting and Repair:

Diagnose mechanical malfunctions on production equipment by analyzing symptoms, utilizing technical manuals, and troubleshooting procedures. 

Disassemble, repair and re-assemble to full functionality of complex mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems. 

Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks as needed for repairs. 

Effectively troubleshoot to find root cause of problem and repair electrical and pneumatic control systems in conjunction with electrician support when necessary. 

Emergency Response:

Promptly respond to equipment breakdowns on the production floor to minimize downtime. 

Perform emergency repairs to get machinery back online quickly. 

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and Tag-Out/Lock-Out SOPs.

Identify and report potential safety hazards. 

Documentation and Communication:

Maintain accurate work order documentation, including details of repairs, parts used, and time spent on each task. 

Communicate effectively with production operators, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel regarding equipment issues and repair status. 

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent. 

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment or transferable skills that would be applicable to the position.

Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery or that can learn and apply quickly.

Ability to work independently and in teams.

Experience with our existing equipment, facilities and manufacturing is a plus.    

Technical Skills:

Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic understanding of electrical circuits and troubleshooting of simple electrical issues.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, technical manuals and repair procedures.

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices. 

Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. 
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
