Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Technician to serve as the first line of technical support for our Production team. In this role, you will assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and optical/electro-optical assemblies while working closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on manufacturing experience, strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret work instructions, schematics, drawings, and Bills of Materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, optical, and electro-optical assemblies.
- Provide first-line technical support to the Production team.
- Work with Quality, Engineering, Production, and other departments to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
- Recommend improvements to work instructions, checklists, troubleshooting guides, and other documentation to improve manufacturability and quality.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to test new processes, collect data, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Diagnose and repair returned customer systems and recommend appropriate repair or upgrade actions.
- Collaborate with Applications Engineers to determine the best solutions for customer systems.
- Provide technical training to small groups of Assemblers and Technicians.
- Support new product introductions, new tool qualifications, and new-part testing.
- Execute test plans, collect and analyze data, and prepare technical reports.
- Perform root-cause analysis and recommend containment and corrective actions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following applicable safety and ESD procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical field is highly desired; equivalent technical certifications or experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of manufacturing-related experience preferred, ideally in optics, electro-optics, electronics, or electromechanical manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, Bills of Materials (BOMs), schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Experience using standard hand tools and electronic test equipment.
- Knowledge of ESD practices.
- General computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to troubleshoot software-driven systems.
- Ability to analyze data and communicate findings through written or graphical formats.
- Ability to define problems, support root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes, and work under a hood.
- Must have the ability to perform tasks requiring close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
