Marine Construction Surveyor

Job Summary:

We are RUSH Marine, a division of RUSH Construction Inc. Family of Companies, and we are seeking a skilled Marine Construction Surveyor to provide precise surveying, mapping, and positioning services for heavy marine construction projects. The successful candidate will work out of our Jacksonville, FL office and be responsible for conducting marine project layout and land surveys, ensuring accurate data collection, and supporting construction teams in executing projects efficiently and safely. This will include but not be limited to layout for pile templates, form systems, structures, and as-builts both over water and landside. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform surveys to support marine construction projects.


• Utilize GPS and Total station methods of survey, along with various levels and other surveying equipment for accurate data collection.


• Provide precise positioning not limited to dredging activities, pile driving, form work and concrete structures as required.


• Analyze survey data and generate detailed reports, charts, and maps for project planning.


• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to marine construction and surveying.


• Work closely with engineers, project managers, and construction crews to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.


• Maintain survey instruments to ensure accurate data collection.


• Ensure safety protocols and best practices are followed while working on any marine project.


• Troubleshoot and resolve survey-related issues that may arise on-site.


• Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals to ensure clarity and compliance with project specifications.


• Other duties as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in surveying, or training certification/qualifications for construction projects, preferably marine construction projects.


• Minimum 5 years of experience in marine construction surveying.


• Proficiency in hydrographic survey software (AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center).


• Strong knowledge of GPS and GNSS positioning systems and total stations.


• Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and project specifications.


• Experience with tide and current monitoring systems.


• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


• Ability to work in challenging offshore and nearshore environments.


• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.


• TWIC card or ability to obtain one

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with remote sensing and UAV (drone) mapping in marine environments.


• Knowledge of dredging operations and marine construction methods.


• Familiarity with environmental regulations affecting marine construction.


• Versatility of working with construction crews as needed when survey work is not required.

Work Environment & Conditions:

• Work may involve time on boats, barges, or offshore structures.


• Exposure to varying weather conditions and marine environments.


• Requires physical stamina for fieldwork, including lifting and setting up equipment.

Hours:

Mon-Friday 7am-3:30pm
