Marine Outboard Mechanic

Position Summary:

Talent Source is hiring a Marine Outboard Mechanic to support shipyard operations by diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling outboard boat engines. This role requires a skilled professional with strong mechanical and troubleshooting experience who can maintain engine performance and ensure safe, efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul outboard boat engines.

• Perform maintenance and repairs with emphasis on Evinrude outboard engines.

• Analyze defects and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.

• Disassemble engines, inspect for faulty components, and perform necessary repairs.

• Replace parts such as gears, magneto points, piston rings, and spark plugs.

• Conduct routine engine maintenance to prevent system failures.

• Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records.

• Follow safety protocols and company procedures at all times.

• Collaborate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma.

• Minimum 3 years of marine, shipyard, or related mechanical experience.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to work with precision and attention to detail.

• Reliable attendance and ability to meet deadlines.

• Ability to obtain base access clearance (background check and valid REAL ID-compliant identification or passport).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working specifically with outboard engines (Evinrude preferred).

• Background in marine propulsion or small engine repair.

Schedule, Duration & Compensation Details:

• Full-time, regular position.

• Schedule based on operational needs.

• Pay range: $25 – $33 per hour.

• On-site role in San Diego, CA.
