AMPORTS is a leading provider of port-based automotive and logistics services supporting customers across the United States. 


Summary/Objective


The Marine Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and timely operations, leading teams of longshoremen, mechanics, and checkers, and coordinating closely with various stakeholders to meet operational goals.


 


Compensation & Schedule


$35.00 per hour, with an anticipated workload of approximately 45–50 hours per month. 


 


Essential Functions 


· Implement and enforce standard stevedore operating procedures.


· Oversee Longshoremen and ensure general operational and safety compliance at the Baltimore Port Terminal.


· Assemble competent labor for operations, ensuring adequate staffing levels for optimal efficiency.


· Plan and oversee vessel arrivals, labor gang organization, and operational setup.


· Supervise safe working practices, ensuring operations run smoothly and in accordance with safety protocols.


· Ensure the timely and accurate discharge and loading of automobiles.


· Plan vessels’ departure for the earliest possible time, coordinating with the foreman and clerks.


· Coordinate with ship agents and terminal management for seamless operations.


· Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, union officials, and account representatives.


· Address port captain needs and respond to emergencies as necessary.


· Supervise labor, provide counsel, and recommend discipline or termination as needed.


· Participate in safety meetings and ensure compliance with safety regulations.


· Handle ship husbandry matters, including calls and email inquiries.


· Remain on-call for vessel operations and emergencies, ensuring 24/7 availability.

Work Environment 


This job operates in an active pier environment. There are many hazards that must be managed daily to maintain a safe working environment.  


Physical Demands 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to drive, stand, walk; sit; climb stairs to board vessels; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift objects up to 20 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 


This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are primarily Monday through Friday on a day shift. 


Travel


This position does not have any travel requirements.


Required Education and Experience 


·       High School Diploma or GED equivalent


·       1 or more years of experience in the maritime industry


·       Willing and able to work weekends and holidays


Preferred Education and Experience


·       Bachelor's Degree.


·       2 or more years of supervisory experience.


·       3 or more years of experience in the maritime industry.


·       Direct stevedoring operations experience.


 


Computer Operations 


Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 


Work Authorization/Security Clearance 


Must be able to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
