Join a marine manufacturing and shipyard operation responsible for barge construction, vessel repair, industrial fabrication, and waterfront operations. This role serves as the site's lead safety professional and provides oversight of safety programs across both maritime and manufacturing environments.


The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety leader who understands shipyard operations, heavy industrial manufacturing, welding and fabrication activities, crane operations, and waterfront hazards while helping drive a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.



Required Qualifications


✔ 5+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience


✔ 5+ years supporting shipyard, marine, maritime, barge, vessel repair, waterfront, or heavy industrial operations


✔ Working knowledge of OSHA Shipyard Employment Standards (29 CFR 1915)



Preferred Qualifications


⭐ CSP, ASP, CHST, or similar professional safety certification


⭐ Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field


⭐ Shipyard Competent Person, Maritime Safety, or related certifications


⭐ Experience supporting barge construction, vessel repair, waterfront operations, welding and fabrication, or heavy industrial manufacturing


⭐ Experience supporting USCG-regulated operations



What You'll Be Doing



  • Lead day-to-day safety efforts across shipyard and manufacturing operations

  • Maintain a strong field presence and actively engage with supervisors and employees

  • Conduct facility inspections, audits, and hazard assessments

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, maritime, environmental, and company safety requirements

  • Oversee confined space, hot work, and permit-required work activities

  • Support crane, rigging, lifting, and waterfront operations

  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation

  • Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee training programs

  • Manage contractor safety performance and compliance

  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs

  • Partner with operations leadership to strengthen safety culture and performance

  • Track safety metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives



Technical Knowledge


Candidates should have working knowledge of:



  • OSHA Shipyard Employment Standards (29 CFR 1915)

  • Maritime & Shipyard Safety Practices

  • Barge Construction & Vessel Repair Operations
