Reports To: VP Community Engagement

SUMMARY

The position of Market President is responsible for building a strong brand reputation, building relationships and driving growth in a specific market in conjunction with the Bank’s overall goals and strategic objectives. Coordinating programs and services provided in the defined market area through close collaboration with the Retail Director, Chief Lending Officer, other members of SVB’s Leadership Team.

In addition, the Market President assures compliance with all SVB policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Cultivate and maintain effective business relationships internally and with key decision-makers within organizations.
2. Drive success in the market by establishing a growth strategy tied with financial targets, engaging a broader team to execute the strategy and by leading to support other critical goals including other members of the market.
3. Develops and maintains internal performance objectives for market business development, incorporating overall Bank goals and strategic initiatives.
4. Participate in independent business development activities as well as partnership with other team members.
5. Providing various banking services to relationships through partnerships with various areas of the bank; this includes, but is not limited to, Business Services, Investment Services, Retail, and Marketing.
6. Build a strong brand reputation and provide leadership in business development and community affairs to drive new business relationships and enhance the Bank's community presence.
7. Recruit, mentor and develop current/future employees in the market.
8. Consistently applies superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position of Market President is responsible for the supervision of branch employee(s).

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.

The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 30 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

MENTAL DEMANDS

The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or ten years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution operations, sales or customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
• Utilize MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint with a high degree of proficiency
• Mastered knowledge of SVB policies, procedures, products and services
• Advanced experience, knowledge and training in bank, trust, and investment operation activities, terminology and products and services.
• Strong knowledge of general office practices.
• Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
• Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
• Thorough understanding of management procedures; ability to plan office or SVB activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, and developing policies and procedures); initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish department or SVB activities
• Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.
• Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
