Position Summary


Under the general direction of the Director of Business Development & Firm Initiatives, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day execution of HBE's marketing, communications, and brand activities, including content development, campaigns, digital marketing, creative execution, and marketing technology. The Specialist works with firm leaders and subject matter experts to translate HBE's expertise into clear, useful, and compelling communications for clients, prospects, and the broader market, while also supporting business development and selected firm initiatives through proposal development, research, project coordination, and other activities that strengthen HBE's market position and client relationships.


Essential Functions:


Marketing & Communications



  • Support campaign planning execute approved firmwide marketing campaigns; coordinate the firm's content calendar across email, social media, website, digital, print, and other channels.

  • Develop, edit, schedule, and distribute client communications, newsletters, social content, announcements, thought leadership, and other firm messaging.

  • Work with subject matter experts to translate technical information into clear, relevant, client-focused content.

  • Coordinate and maintain website content, social media channels, basic search engine optimization, and related digital marketing activities.

  • Monitor marketing performance and recommend improvements based on engagement, audience needs, and firm priorities.


Brand & Creative



  • Create polished marketing and business development materials, including presentations, proposals, flyers, digital assets, social content, and client-facing collateral.

  • Apply strong visual judgment to layout, hierarchy, imagery, typography, readability, and overall presentation.

  • Apply and help maintain HBE's brand standards, templates, and marketing assets and coordinate outside creative or production resources as needed.


Marketing Technology & Project Management



  • Support the administration, adoption, and optimization of the firm's marketing automation platform, including email marketing, audience segmentation, campaign tracking, and reporting.

  • Use the firm's management platform to coordinate marketing projects, recurring activities, timelines, and deadlines.

  • Coordinate assigned marketing projects from initiation through completion, working with internal stakeholders and outside vendors and escalating scope, priority, or resource decisions as appropriate.


Business Development & Market Positioning



  • Develop an understanding of client and prospect needs, motivations, and decision-making behaviors and work with the Director to help position HBE's services around client challenges, outcomes, and value.

  • Conduct prospect, industry, market, and competitor research to support business development and firm positioning.

  • Coordinate proposal development and submission in partnership with the Director of Business Development & Firm Initiatives, partners, and pursuit teams.

  • Maintain proposal templates, team bios, standard firm content, and related resources.


Firm & Community Initiatives



  • Coordinate marketing and communications related to client events, sponsorships, community involvement, and selected internal initiatives.

  • Maintain key online profiles and support the firm's reputation and visibility.

  • Contribute to broader firm initiatives under the direction of the Director of Business Development & Firm Initiatives, including research, communications, project coordination, and implementation support.

Physical Requirements



  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Ability to work full-time with extended hours during peak periods

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Ability to communicate effective with colleagues, clients, and external contacts through in-person, telephone, and virtual channels, with or without reasonable accommodations

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times


Travel Required



  • Minimal travel required; occasional travel between HBE offices and attendance at firm, client, industry, or community events may be required.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business, or related field preferred.

  • 2–5 years of relevant marketing, communications, or business development experience; B2B or professional services experience preferred.

  • Strong proficiency with visual design and content- creation software, such as Canva or comparable tools, with demonstrated ability to create polished, professional materials.

  • Experience with marketing automation or customer relationship management platforms; HubSpot experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with project management platforms; Asana experience preferred.
