Job Description - Marketing Communications Specialist

Full-time

Description

Who We Are

Our marketing team at Fresno Mission is a quirky mix of creativity, caffeine, storytelling, and sheer determination. We believe every life has a story worth telling and every story has the power to inspire generosity, compassion, and transformation. From donor appeals and newsletters to campaign messaging and ministry updates, we help connect our community to the life changing work happening throughout Fresno Mission. We spend our days interviewing program participants, sharing testimonies, highlighting ministry impact, and helping supporters see the difference their involvement makes. More than what we create, we care about how we work together. We value humility, collaboration, honest feedback, creativity, faith, and excellence. We laugh a lot, move quickly, and are passionate about using our gifts to serve God and our community. If you love writing, connecting with people, and telling meaningful stories that make a difference, you'll feel right at home here.

Job Description

The Marketing Communications Specialist is a writer, storyteller, and content developer responsible for helping communicate the impact of Fresno Mission through compelling written content. •  Passionate about ministry, nonprofit work, and serving the community
  •  Able to adapt your writing style to different audiences and communication channels

What You'll Do

  •  Write and edit donor emails, campaign messaging, appeal letters, newsletters, and ministry communications
  •  Gather stories and testimonies from guests, volunteers, staff, and community members

  •  You secretly enjoy editing and proofreading
  •  You know the difference between "their," "there," and "they're" without thinking about it
  •  You've asked someone, "Can I hear more of your story?" and genuinely meant it
  •  You get excited about a great headline
  •  You've rewritten a sentence ten times because the eleventh version felt right
  •  You believe good storytelling can change hearts and minds

Requirements

Experience: 2–3 years in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, nonprofit communications, or related fields

Technical Skills: Strong writing and editing skills. Familiarity with Canva, Microsoft Office, email marketing platforms, or similar communication tools.

Faith Requirement

A mature walk with Jesus Christ and the ability to articulate Biblical beliefs and apply them within the context of Fresno Mission.

All employees of Fresno Mission are an integral part of the outreach ministry of a non-denominational, evangelical organization sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through transformational programs that provide food, shelter, clothing, education, job training, and family restoration.

All employees are considered Christian missionaries and are required, from time to time, to participate in chapel services, outreach ministries, Bible studies, and prayer times. Due to the nature of this ministry, each employee must maintain a Christian testimony of faith and agree with the Fresno Mission Statement of Faith.
