We are Olsson. We engineer and design solutions that improve the world around us. As a company, we promise to always be responsive, transparent, and focused on results – for our people, our clients, and our company.

We’re a people-centric firm, so it’s no surprise our greatest asset is our people. The impact this creates is an environment that encourages our people to grow and be creative with their talents. This approach builds a culture that is uniquely Olsson. It allows us to grow our people as we grow our business. This, in turn, creates a lasting impact on the world around us.

Job Description

You enjoy working with content—asking good questions, organizing complex ideas, and shaping information so it’s clear, persuasive, and easy to navigate. You understand the value of thoughtful content that reflects how a brand delivers to its clients.

As a Proposal Assistant, you will support marketing professionals as they partner with technical teams to position the firm to win work and strengthen Olsson’s brand with public and private agencies.

You will contribute to marketing efforts across water, transportation, community infrastructure, and private development, translating technical knowledge into proposal, qualification, and positioning materials that align with client expectations and firm standards.

Role Overview and Responsibilities:

You will be part of a collaborative marketing team that values shared ownership, clear communication, and flexibility as priorities shift. You will contribute to a range of marketing activities by following established processes and best practices.

  • Support development of marketing content for Statement of Qualifications (SOQs), proposals, interview presentations, and award submissions, following firm standards and brand guidelines.

  • Communicate proactively and meet deadlines for the timely completion of project pursuits and proposals.

  • Assist with procurement research, review, and coordination, and/or facilitation of client engagement activities, conferences, and client events.

  • Conduct quality and compliance reviews; edit marketing content for accuracy, clarity, tone, and consistency.

  • Gather, verify, organize, and maintain marketing information systems, including client files, resumes, project descriptions, and contact lists.

  • Enter and maintain pursuit and opportunity data in Deltek Vantagepoint, ensuring records are complete, current, and aligned with firm standards.

Success in this role:

Within the first 6–12 months, you will:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the proposal lifecycle and Olsson’s pursuit process

  • Independently support proposal coordination and production tasks

  • Produce high-quality, brand-aligned marketing materials

  • Build effective working relationships with marketing, technical, and business development teams

  • Manage multiple deadlines with increasing confidence and accountability

We have one opening and will only consider candidates interested in being located out of our Lincoln, NE or Plano, TX office location. This role offers a flexible hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

You are passionate about:

  • Collaborating with others to achieve shared goals

  • Communicating clearly and proactively

  • Developing and refining content with purpose

  • Connecting writing, design, and brand voice to proposal and firm goals

  • Taking ownership of materials from kickoff through final production

  • Supporting team deliverables and adapting as priorities shift

  • Approaching work with curiosity and a growth mindset, actively pursuing professional growth, and adopting new tools and processes

You bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Writing/Journalism, or a related field

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or coursework considered)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to contribute to and thrive within a collaborative team environment

  • Effective time management and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign, along with a willingness to learn new software

  • A self-motivated mindset with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Strengths in writing and editing
