So, what will the Marksmanship Simulator Instructor / Operator at Terrestris do?

The EST II is a training system that supports primarily basic rifle marksmanship (BRM) instruction as a part of Initial Entry Training (IET). Additional instruction supported includes advanced rifle marksmanship training, and tactical decision-making scenarios for IET and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Soldiers, unit/installation cadre, and mobilizing/deploying units and Soldiers. As the Engagement Skills Trainer Instructor / Operator, you will be responsible for facilitating simulated weapons training using the Army’s Engagement Skills Trainer (EST) system. This role supports military units by delivering realistic marksmanship and weapons qualification training in a virtual environment. As the Instructor/Operator you will ensure that systems are operational, conduct training sessions, and assist in maintaining training records and readiness.

What does a typical day look like for the Marksmanship Simulator Instructor / Operator?

You will:

• Operate and maintain the EST system, including setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and system shutdown procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance of computer hardware, software, weapons system, target systems, video and audio control panel operation.
• Conduct virtual marksmanship training sessions using EST, supporting qualification and sustainment training for various weapon systems (M16, M4, M9, M2, M320, M240B, M249, MK19, M141, M1200 and AT4).
• Instruct and mentor soldiers in the proper use of EST equipment and simulated weapon systems.
• Provide feedback to unit leadership and trainees on performance, identifying areas for improvement.
• Coordinate with unit leadership and training NCOs to schedule and tailor training sessions to meet unit training objectives.
• Maintain system logs and training records in accordance with Army standards and regulations.
• Ensure system security and accountability for all EST hardware and components.
• Stay up to date with Army marksmanship doctrine and training regulations, incorporating them into instruction.
• Report equipment malfunctions, usage metrics, and other data as required by contract or Army oversight.
• Be responsible for after action review processing and playback.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the professional we’re looking for if you have:

• The ability to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
• A High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English, both in writing and speaking.
• Familiarity with Army weapons systems and qualification standards (e.g., TC 3-20.40, FM 3-22.9).
• Experience operating or instructing with the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST) 2000 or EST II preferred.
• Ability to perform basic IT troubleshooting for networked and computer-based systems.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and Army training management systems (e.g., DTMS).
• Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
• Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

We are extra impressed by folks with:

• Prior military experience (Army preferred), ideally with background in marksmanship, range operations, or weapons instruction.
• Advanced military training or certifications a plus (e.g., Master Gunner, Small Arms Instructor, etc.).
