GovFirst is seeking to hire a Master Electrician Manager to lead and supervise electrical teams across Virginia in locations including Bristol, Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Lynchburg, Northern Virginia, Richmond, Salem, and Staunton within the Transportation Operations Division. This role will oversee construction and installation projects, ensuring that electrical systems are maintained, repaired, and installed according to safety standards, codes, and operational requirements. The Master Electrician Manager will serve as a key technical leader, guiding crews and ensuring compliance while maintaining documentation and coordinating with VDOT and contractors.
Inspect electrical system and device repairs and installations to ensure compliance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and traffic control standards.
Supervise or perform electrical/mechanical maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement work in substations, medium and low voltage systems, industrial pumps and motors, ventilation systems, drive systems, and roadway lighting.
Troubleshoot electrical systems, locate faults, recommend corrections, and perform necessary repairs.
Function as a compliance inspector for roadway lighting repair, installation, specification adherence, and work zone traffic control.
Serve as a plans reviewer and perform limited engineering functions as needed to support projects.
Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, work activities, and compliance reports.
Mentor and guide electrical teams to meet established standards and ensure safety and efficiency.
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and VDOT personnel to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Adhere to all requirements of a Journeyman Electrician while supervising and leading others.
Valid Master Electrician license.
Completion of OSHA 30-hour training course.
Knowledge of local and state electrical and building codes.
Completion of a four- or five-year electrical construction and maintenance apprenticeship program approved by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry, or four to five years of industrial electrical experience.
Ability to supervise or work independently in complex electrical systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing faults and implementing corrective actions.
Experience in roadway lighting systems, substations, and motor/pump controls.
Ability to perform inspections, review plans, and adhere to safety and traffic control requirements.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, for coordinating with contractors, VDOT staff, and stakeholders.
