Job Description - Material Control Supervisor

In this position... 


Ford Motor Company is seeking a dedicated Material Control Supervisor to join our Parts Distribution Center team in Shawnee, KS. In this vital onsite role, you will lead a skilled team, ensuring safety protocols are rigorously followed, inventory is accurately managed, and orders are fulfilled efficiently and on time. You'll be at the heart of our day-to-day operations, driving performance and fostering a positive work environment.


This is an onsite position that will require flexibility including the ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends and most holidays. Eligible for overtime pay when working holidays. There is no hybrid option for this position.

What you'll do...


The primary role of a Material Control Supervisor is to oversee the day-to-day operation of a Parts Distribution Center. Responsibilities include but not limited to: 



  • Lead and mentor a team of UAW-represented associates across key warehouse functions: Receiving, Packaging, Replenishment, Picking, and Shipping.

  • Identify opportunities and implement initiatives to continuously improve our operational performance.

  • Accurately track and report employee time and attendance.

  • Drive results against critical objectives related to Cost, Quality, Safety, Efficiency, and Absenteeism.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including suppliers, to achieve shared goals.

  • Maintain strong, positive working relationships with your team and all partners, ensuring fair and consistent application of our Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Champion accountability, managing both your own performance and that of the hourly workforce regarding processes and standards.

You'll have... 



  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 1 year of leadership experience.

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in similar roles, ideally within a warehouse, distribution, or production setting.

  • Must be willing and flexible work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Please note: this role requires flexibility with start times. Expected work hours will be 1pm - 11pm with overtime.

  • Must be willing and able work onsite full-time at our facility in Shawnee, KS. This is not a remote or hybrid role. 

  • Demonstrated strong listening, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in difficult and high-pressure situations.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).


Even better, you may have...



  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Previous experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or similar position.

  • Experience working in a unionized (UAW) environment.

  • Prior experience in warehouse, distribution, or production operations.

  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), particularly SAP/EWM.

  • Familiarity with payroll systems.


Important Note on Schedule: This is a full-time, onsite position. Due to the extended nature of our operations, this role requires flexibility and the ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and most holidays. Overtime is expected as needed and is compensated accordingly (including holiday overtime eligibility). There is absolutely no hybrid or remote work option available for this position.
