The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring for full-time Material Handlers within our campus Operations department. The UOES Division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations.

Material Handler

This position provides daily support to Central Receiving and Warehouse operations. Central Receiving serves as a central terminal for the entire University. Incoming large freight must be offloaded and prepared for delivery to campus and/or properly placed in Warehouse inventory. Supply orders are fulfilled, organized and prepped for delivery, then delivered throughout campus. Items may also be picked up within campus for delivery to other campus departments or to Central Receiving for outbound shipment. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with unloading freight as trucks arrive
• Contact customers regarding receipt of their orders and coordination of delivery
• Prepare items for shipping via freight lines
• Deliver and stock Warehouse inventory
• Fulfill supply orders as indicated on work orders, paying close attention to detail regarding items requested and delivery location
• Maintain awareness of potential hazards which may develop in work areas and on campus
• Stay current with University safety training requirements, maintain valid driver's license and certifications
• Keep the warehouse clean, organized and efficient by sweeping and auto scrubbing floors, emptying trash, recycling cardboard and paper and cleaning computers
• Clean Central Receiving dock, yard and garage and provide snow removal for building where necessary
• Clean interior and exterior of delivery vehicles. Inspect vehicles on a daily basis.
• Safe delivery of warehouse items, making sure that an appropriate signature is obtained at each delivery location.

• Must be flexible and willing to learn all roles in Department, as employees are moved in rotation within the department
• Must have a valid drivers license and be capable of obtaining DOT and forklift certification
• Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Positive, respectful, and committed to delivering excellent service.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to move, lift, and handle equipment, supplies, and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to maintain physical activity for extended periods, including driving, walking, and performing repetitive movements.
• Capable of working in various weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, snow).

Pay Rate: $17.50/hr
