Material Handler

Position Summary

NOW HIRING a dependable Material Handler in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, identification, handling, and storage of steel materials. You will support production by ensuring materials are received, identified, organized, and transported between workstations while meeting strict safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Move steel materials, bundles, and finished products between workstations, staging areas, and storage locations; assist with loading, unloading, and securing loads.

• Verify materials against identification tags, work orders, and manufacturing routers while maintaining full traceability and following quality procedures.

• Operate material-handling equipment, cranes, and forklifts safely after proper authorization; follow proper rigging practices, conduct pre-use inspections, and observe load limits.

• Coordinate material flow with production personnel, follow production schedules, and communicate any workflow delays or shortages.

• Wear required PPE (gloves, eye/hearing protection, steel-toe boots), follow safety and hazard protocols, report near misses, and keep work areas clean and obstruction-free.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and recognize material tags and work orders.

• Strong safety awareness, attention to detail, teamwork, reliable attendance, and willingness to learn.

• Previous manufacturing, galvanizing, steel fabrication, warehouse, forklift, crane, or rigging experience.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive material handling in a noisy industrial environment with heat and moving machinery. PPE required.
