Material Handler (6:45PM - 4:45AM)

PurposeThe material handling equipment operator position is responsible for physically loading and unloading trucks, delivering parts and components to and from assembly lines and/or supporting the press room where applicable in order to feed the production process within the company. Work errors could impact multiple departments, such as when products are mislabeled. Extreme caution must be used to avoid injuries when driving vehicles in areas with pedestrian traffic. The department is structured as a formal team and requires the ability to work within the team. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Operates a hi-lo, tugger and/or shag truck to load and unload trucks, support production and/or docks.Place finished product in proper storage location.Ensure containers are properly labeled.Verify product in container matches label.Planning, organizing, and prioritizing of activities to meet material handling requirements and deadlines. Constant visual effort and concentration sufficient to type, read, and memorize information such as part numbers and part locations.Follow all safety regulations concerning industrial vehicle operation.Perform basic housekeeping to keep area clean and safe.Various other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired Education & ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent required.One -Two years of Hi-Lo experience in a manufacturing environment with an understanding of competencies.CompetenciesAbility to follow established procedures.Operate a Hi-Lo efficiently in a Manufacturing Environment.Ability to judge distances, speed of moving objects, and the ability to lift and move stacked pallets and containers efficiently.Strong attention to detail. Organizational Skills.Knowledge of AITF16949 quality standards.Problem solving skills sufficient to address both routine and non-routine problems.Communication skills to interact with all levels of employees.Computer literacy skills include the ability to perform basic data entry, scanning and to operate visual 'touch screen' display panels.Math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks as required.Ability to work effectively with people.LicensureHi-Lo License Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment.
