Material Handler- Ames, Iowa

Job Summary:

The Material Handler role is responsible for ensuring raw materials are properly stored, prepared, and ready for manufacturing. This position involves handling, measuring, cutting, and organizing materials according to production specifications while maintaining efficiency and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and stage materials for      production, including measuring, cutting, and sorting
• Operate hand tools, power      tools, or machinery to process materials as needed
• Inspect materials for defects,      inconsistencies, or damage before use
• Support material flow by loading      and unloading raw materials and finished goods
• Assist in tracking inventory      levels and reporting shortages or discrepancies
• Work closely with production,      warehouse, and quality teams to meet deadlines and maintain product      quality
• Follow work orders, blueprints,      and specifications to ensure accuracy in material preparation
• Maintain an organized and      efficient workspace to support production flow 
• Follow all company safety      protocols and ensure compliance with PPE requirements
• Support cross-functional tasks      and assist in other areas as required
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or      equivalent required
• Prior experience in manufacturing,      warehouse, or material handling role preferred
• Forklift certification or      willingness to achieve certification
• Ability to follow work      instructions and use basic hand and power tools
• Strong organizational skills      and attention to detail
• Ability to lift materials up to      50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Willingness to learn and adapt      in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Conditions:

The Material Handler works in a production environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. This role involves standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift. This role requires attention to detail and flexibility of priorities. PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed footwear, is required in designated work areas. This is a physically active role that requires communication, teamwork, and adaptive skills to support production flow.
