Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Defense Systems has an opening for a Parts, Materials and Processes PM\u0026P Section Manager in Roy, Utah.\n\nThis role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. \n\nCandidate will be responsible to manage a motivated team of PM\u0026P engineers within a matrixed functional organization, ensuring integration and collaboration across design and manufacturing teams under an overarching Systems Engineering framework. \n\nCandidate will demonstrate ability to communicate effectively across engineering disciplines and design teams. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively to resolve issues, determine priorities, and implement solutions. Candidate experience with industry and military standards and specifications is preferred.\n\nWhat You\u2019ll Get To Do: \n\nThe selected candidate will be responsible for a PM\u0026P Design discipline Section within the SDS Design Engineering organization and will report directly to an SDS PM\u0026P Design Engineering Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects\n\nAs a section manager you will manage a team of individual contributors within PM\u0026P, these individuals may support one or more programs within SDS.\n\n * Provide performance feedback, training, mentoring and coaching to your employees.\n\n * Support workforce planning and maintain sufficient depth and breadth of skillsets within your teams core discipline to meet program needs.\n\n * Responsible for employee performance reviews and supporting employee career development.\n\n * Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.\n\n * Support development and refinement of processes and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.\n\n * Support proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup and audits, and special assignments on an as needed basis.\n\n * Support employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top talent.\n\n * Provide technical support to Sentinel program for non-metallic materials, including but not limited to:\n\n * Reviews and analyzes released engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities.\n\n * Subject Matter Expertise for Non-metallic materials, part/material specifications and qualification plans. Provide mentoring and coaching on technical issues within your area of expertise.\n\n * Perform risk analysis, trade studies, process improvement analysis, cost estimates, as applicable.\n\n * Tracking to completion tasking and assignments for the team, assisting with workload balancing across team members, collecting metrics, and performing other project management functions for the non-metallics team as applicable.\n\n * Ensure team members have the required tools and access to perform PM\u0026P responsibilities.\n\n * Collaborate with other engineering assignment managers/leads to align priorities and support overall execution of program objectives.\n\n\n\n\nThis position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate\u0027s time.\n\nThe candidate will have 80% technical responsibilities, supporting SDS programs as an engineer within their same function. Candidate will act across multiple organizations to drive execution. Best technical fit will be assessed as part of the interview process.\n\nThe ideal candidate is capable of creating and managing high performing teams while providing technical, administrative and management expertise in the day to day activities required to successfully execute complex engineering programs. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.\n\nYou\u2019ll Bring These Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or a Master\u0027s Degree in STEM with 6 years of related experience\n\n * 2 years of experience in either PM\u0026P, or a combination of Systems Engineering and PM\u0026P engineering disciplines.\n\n * Experience in ensuring that PM\u0026P program or contract requirements are applied to parts, materials and assemblies.\n\n * Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools.\n\n * Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.\n\n * Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs collaborating with multiple functional groups, companies and government customer representatives.\n\n\n\n\nThese Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university and 6 years experience in DoD, aerospace, oil and gas, or nuclear regulated industries\n\n * Minimum 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule, in a PM\u0026P organization.\n\n * 1 year of experience leading projects or cross-functional teams\n\n * An Active, In-Scope DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.\n\n * Special Program Access.\n\n * Experience interpreting and ensuring design compliance to industry and/or military standards and specifications for parts and materials.\n\n * ICBM experience.\n\n * 2 years\u2019 experience in a people leadership role, or 4 years\u2019 experience as a technical lead, in a PM\u0026P organization.\n\n * Working knowledge of SharePoint, JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft teams, Siemens Teamcenter or other life cycle management systems.\n\n * Experience in project management including Microsoft project and Visio.\n\n * Experience writing and defending technical position papers.\n\n * Experience working with chief engineers and Integrated Product Teams.\n\n * Experience working in Agile and digital design environments.\n\n * Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks, and mentor junior engineers.\n\n * Experience reviewing technical drawings and engineering data for parts and assemblies.\n\n * Understanding of supply chain management as it relates to parts management and obtaining technical specifications on components.\n\n * Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward).\n\n * Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.\n\n * Ability to function in a dynamic and collaborative environment and be flexible to changing direction.\n\n * Earned Value Management/Control Account Management.\n\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
