Overview
The Materials Assistant 1 is responsible for verifying orders, assembling, packaging, and routing merchandise or equipment orders. This role also involves reviewing parcels for shipment, determining the best shipping methods, receiving and inventorying incoming shipments, and maintaining inventory records. Additional duties include providing support for on-site events, maintaining the order and security of the work area, and performing clerical functions related to shipping and receiving. The Materials Assistant may drive vehicles for pickup and delivery of materials and collections.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
2. Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
3. Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment, demonstrating strong organizational and customer service skills.
4. Detail-oriented with strong data entry and computer proficiency, especially in using MS Excel and Word.
5. Excellent attendance and punctuality, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain attention to accuracy and detail.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to operate an order picker and experience in a warehouse or production environment.
2. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
3. Knowledge of Yale systems, Workday, and eShipGlobal, and related certification training (e.g., Hazmat shipping).
Principal Responsibilities
1. Fills orders from stock based on authorized requisitions. Orders, receives, stores, and issues equipment, material, merchandise, tools, or supplies. Counts, classifies or weighs articles. 2. Determines method of shipping. Checks and reports on condition of goods received or to be shipped. Reports damaged or insufficient shipments. Shelves, sorts, prices, and codes items. 3. Services customers. Provides information, receives money in payment of fees, and issues receipts. 4. Uses computer terminal to input and retrieve data. Maintains the order and security of work area, materials and equipment. May perform equipment repairs. Maintains logs and records of activities. Inventories supplies. 5. May oversee and instruct support staff. May drive vehicle for pick-up and delivery services. 6. Performs clerical functions incidental to stock activities.Job Posting Date
