Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Materials Development Intern (Sustainable Materials) for the summer to join the Materials Development Team in Superior Township, MI.
Essential Duties:
- Thoroughly investigate current value chain of mechanically recycled plastics (sources: post industrial, post consumer, ocean/beach, landfill, etc.)
- Types of suppliers: material collection, sorting, cleaning, flaking/grinding, repalletizing, compounding, distributing, testing, molding
- Key attributes include: company locations, general technology, material source and feedstock identification, expansion plans/targets, overall and automotive specific projected needs (tons), overall and automotive specific capacity (tons)
Basic Qualifications:
- Required knowledge in key areas:
Thermoplastic polymer materials (PP, PET, ABS, PA, etc.)
- Polymerization, compounding, molding, testing, selection for application, specifying, etc.
Interpersonal communication via phone, video, in-person, e-mail, etc.
Greater than 50% completed Bachelor's Degree (junior or senior) in one of the following areas of study: Material Science, Plastics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, etc.
- Travel up to 15%
- Bilingual capability is a plus
- Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
