Job Description - Materials Planning and Control Support III

Inside the Role

This position is for a Material Planner role within the Materials Planning & Logistics team. The responsibilities are focused on managing the flow, availability, and accuracy of inventory to support production and service requirements. This role ensures material continuity by utilizing material planning systems, vendor communication processes, and electronic data interchange tools to align supply with demand.
Successful candidates will apply materials management principles, analytical skills, and practical experience to maintain optimal inventory levels, minimize disruptions, and drive supply chain efficiency. The role supports the development of a responsive, reliable, and cost-effective material flow while ensuring alignment with production schedules, supplier performance expectations, and overall operational goals.

Position offers a starting salary range of $50,000 - $81,000 USD 

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Execute material planning activities, including management of major components and vendor notification systems, to support production requirements
  • Place purchase orders and schedule releases with suppliers; proactively follow up to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to schedule commitments
  • Expedite and coordinate material shortages across suppliers, traffic/logistics, and plant operations to minimize production disruptions
  • Manage and expedite critical shortages impacting Service, Warranty, and field support needs
  • Monitor production schedules and inventory levels; adjust orders and material flow to align with changing demand requirements
  • Collaborate with changeover coordinators and production schedulers to ensure smooth, timely, and complete transitions of materials in and out of production
  • Interface with Purchasing and suppliers to optimize material flow, inventory levels, and overall supply chain efficiency
  • Develop strong product knowledge, including component functionality and assembly processes, to better understand and support material flow
  • Track inbound shipments and coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely receipt of production materials
  • Support cross-functional training initiatives to enhance team capability and operational flexibility
  • Provide performance feedback on supplier delivery, quality, and responsiveness
  • Coordinate Just-in-Time (JIT) deliveries with suppliers and internal Materials/Production teams to support lean operations
  • Investigate and resolve SAP-related issues, including quantity and pricing blocks, to ensure uninterrupted material availability
  • Support special projects and perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Associate’s degree with focus in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain from an accredited college/university
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, including cross-functional collaboration
  • Understanding of Material Planning processes & downstream impacts
  • Problem solving experience
  • Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Bachelor degree with focus in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain from an accredited college/university
  • In-Plant Logistics Experience
  • Working knowledge of IMS
  • Working knowledge of SAP
