Position: Maternal Care Nurse
Location: New York, NY

Job Summary:
The Maternal Care Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to mothers and infants before, during, and after childbirth. They assess the health needs of pregnant women, monitor fetal development, assist with labor and delivery, and provide postpartum care and education to new mothers. The Maternal Care Nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the health and well-being of mothers and babies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of pregnant women to identify health risks and develop individualized care plans.
- Monitor fetal development and maternal vital signs during pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
- Assist with childbirth and provide emotional support and pain management techniques to laboring mothers.
- Provide education and support to new mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and postpartum recovery.
- Assess newborns for signs of distress and provide immediate interventions as needed.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for mothers and infants.
- Document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review patient progress and update care plans as needed.
- Stay informed about current research, guidelines, and best practices in maternal and child health nursing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [insert state].
- Minimum of 2 years of previous acute care experience in MedSurg, Maternal and Child Care, Critical Care, and Pediatrics.
- Current experience in Maternal Child home health preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
