Job Description - Math Teacher Candidate Pool-Secondary

Math Teacher Candidate Pool- Secondary 


 


Reports To: Building Principal


 


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Teaching certification/licensure in Math or relevant subject area.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of math concepts and curriculum standards.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students.

  • Passion for teaching and commitment to student success.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in response to student needs and challenges.

  • Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required.


 


Responsibilities:



  • Develop and execute engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of students.

  • Provide instruction using various methods to accommodate different learning styles.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.

  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

  • Stay updated on educational best practices and curriculum standards.

  • Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment for all students.

  • Ensure order and progress in assigned classes, providing both group and individualized instruction.

  • Foster a conducive learning environment tailored to student needs and interests.

  • Supervise and delegate tasks to instructional assistants, volunteers, and substitutes.

  • Set and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.

  • Utilize diverse instructional techniques and technology.

  • Evaluate academic and social progress, maintaining accurate records.

  • Regularly assess students' instructional needs and seek support when necessary.

  • Administer standardized tests and maintain classroom safety and equipment.

  • Attend meetings and serve on committees as required.

  • Uphold policies on student conduct and classroom rules in a fair manner.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in subject matter and effective teaching methods.

  • Communicate clearly with all stakeholders and seek professional growth opportunities.

  • Adhere to professional standards, including punctuality, confidentiality, and self-control.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors and stay updated on educational trends.

  • Be available for student and parent inquiries outside of regular hours.

  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.





    Physical


    Requirements:            Demonstrate overall good health.


                                          Demonstrate ability to communicate in clear, concise manner with others.



    Terms of


    Employment:               8 hours per day, 10 months (200 days)



    Evaluation:                  Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Sussex County School Board’s policy manual.
