ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
 Must be in good standing and licensed with applicable State Board of Nursing.
 Previous MDS 3.0 experience preferred.
 Excellent communication skills in both written and oral communication.
 Knowledge of computer skills.
 Full understanding of State & Federal RAI regulations with the ability to communicate and
comprehend the MDS process.
 Knowledge in contributing in writing/updating care plans as member of interdisciplinary
team.
 Knowledgeable about reimbursement rules and procedures.
 CEU’s as required by State.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list is subject to individual facility policies, procedures and practices, which may require
additional duties and responsibilities.
 Adherence to processes as they relate to the RAI process, MDS and applicable billing,
such as daily, weekly, monthly meetings, use of required forms, required communication.
 Adherence to policies and procedures where applicable.
 Timely completion of MDS Assessments and tracking tools according to federal and state
regulation.
 Contributes in creating, maintaining, and updating resident specific care plans with each
MDS completion.
 May function as nursing representative for care conferences.
 Monitors work of staff in nursing and other departments who contribute to the
information on care plans and MDS Assessments.
 Responsible for data entry on MDS Assessments and care plans when required
assessment completed.
 Attends workshops and reads literature in order to stay current with changes in RAI
process; presents same to facility staff as appropriate.
 Perform in-services and one-on-one training sessions in RAI process as identified and as
time allows.
 Recommends changes in resident care, treatment, medications as identified during
scheduled MDS process.
 Completes accurate coding of MDS with information obtained from medical record
review; resident, family and staff interviews.
 Adheres to safety and infection control policies and procedures according to universal
precautions.
 Respects and maintain residents’ dignity, individuality, privacy and confidentiality.
 Promotes positive public relations for the facility.
 Adheres to facility dress code, and maintains good personal hygiene practices.
 Displays courteous, tactful, helpful manner with residents, families, visitors and fellow
employees.
 Maintains conscientious attendance within the standards of the personnel policies.
 Adherence to facility Code of Conduct.
 Performs other job duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT
Working in normal office environment, employee may be required to sit, bend, stoop, use
keyboard, see, talk and hear. May occasionally lift medium to heavy objects including with the
movement of residents. May assist in lifting residents weighing between 100-250 lbs. Employee
is occasionally exposed to blood or other bodily fluids, fumes, or airborne particles and toxic or
caustic chemicals. In compliance with applicable law, reasonable accommodations may be made
to enable individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
