Meat Clerk Overview 

Provide fast, friendly, helpful and efficient service to all Price Chopper customers. Maintains acceptable product levels for good selection within all meat cases to promote optimal opportunity for sales. Adheres to present standards in preparing and wrapping meat as directed. Maintains proper sanitation and safety standards according to established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Consistently work to provide fast, friendly, helpful and efficient customer service at all times.
• Responsible for smiling, making eye contact and thanking customers upon fulfilling customers requests.
• Maintain a neat, clean and organized workstation at all times.
• Maintain the meat case to adequate product levels, product pricing, expiration dates/codes and damages.
• Rotate products to ensure proper coding/dates and remove damaged/expired products.
• Prepare and grind sausage and cube steaks. Wrap meat products as required.
• Responsible for performing sanitation duties within the department, in accordance with corporate and state regulations (i.e.: cleaning meat department equipment, shelves and floors).
• Control shrink through adherence to related policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to read and write at the 8th grade level.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching and climbing.
• Frequent use of hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders.
• Frequent lifting from waist to shoulders of up to 40 pounds.
• Occasional lifting from floor to overhead of up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally carry and lift from floor to waist of up to 80 pounds.
• Occasional pushing and pulling of up to 70 pounds.
• Constant exposure to cool environment.
• Ability to work in a store environment
