Mechanic

Description

Lakes Gas Co. Mechanic's primary responsibilities include maintenance and inspection of company vehicles. The mechanic is responsible for assessing vehicles and/ or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues. Responsible for routine inspections of vehicles and inform manager of any issues. Liaise with manager to determine automotive requirements and communicate vehicular defects or problems. Mechanic needs to be safety conscious and have a strong mechanical aptitude. 

Requirements

1. Support drivers by performing preventative maintenance as outlined in the maintenance program. This includes adjustments, lubrication, regular inspections, filter changes, and cleaning
2. Communicate clearly both written and verbally in the English language.
3. Prepare quotes and work estimates as requested
4. Able to adjust schedule to fit manager's requirements and requests.
5. Dependability and reliability are essential.
6. Maintain clean and orderly work areas, use and put away tools properly

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS

1. 2 years’ experience in mechanic or assembly field or certified trade school/technical degree in a mechanical or manufacturing field
2. Ability to read, interpret, and understand the English language to understand task procedures, product labels, work orders, informational and warning signage.
3. Experience conducting routine services and vehicle maintenance
4. Valid state driver's license.
5. Valid Class "A" or "B" Commercial Drivers License, HAZMAT endorsement, Tanker endorsement and does not have air brake restrictions.
6. Valid Department of Transportation physical examination certification.
7. Completion of Department of Transportation HAZMAT training program every three years.
8. No moving violations for reckless or operating under the influence.
9. A motor vehicle record (MVR) review will be conducted annually to determine if a driver is qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle in accordance with regulations as defined in Section 391.25 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
10. Must qualify for insurability by the company's insurance carrier.
11. Must pass a pre-employment drug test prior to employment.
12. Subject to passing random drug and/or alcohol tests per DOT and company policies.
13. Traffic violations, whether on-the-job or off-the-job may impact employment status. If driver incurs an incident which could affect their DOT license such as DUI, reckless or careless driving, etc. It needs to be reported to the Branch Manager as soon as possible, but no later then the start of the next business day.
14. Must abide by the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986 and notify both employer and the state that issued the driver's license of all traffic violations (other than parking violations), including those committed in a personal vehicle, for which driver forfeited collateral or was convicted, within 30 days after conviction.
