Job Description - Mechanic I

Job Summary


 


Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS) a Pacific Northern Environmental LLC division, is seeking a Mechanic I who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and has the ability to provide exceptional service and skills to our company, clients, and employees.


 


Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of five divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (Taurus), Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and WasteXpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. PNE LLC is a multi-state organization with operating offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. In addition, we carry out projects across the United States.


 


CCS provides industrial cleaning and spill response to almost every pulp and paper mill in the Pacific Northwest. We also service major oil companies and a wide range of manufacturing and industrial clients. CCS has demonstrated its ability to complete large and complex industrial cleaning challenges on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with the most stringent industrial health & safety programs. No industrial cleaning job is too large or too small for CCS.


 


The Mechanic I is responsible for providing learning and assisting with inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on the company fleet, this includes tractors, trailers, and light-duty vehicles, Under the guidance of experience technicians and supervisors, they will develop skills in performing safety inspections, equity maintenance, and routine servicing to ensure vehicle reliability and compliance.


 


 


Education and Experience Qualifications


 



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Driver’s License Required.

  • Vocational or technical training in automotive, diesel, or fleet maintenance preferred, although not required.

  • CDL A or B is a plus, but not required.

  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance, tools, and repair processes.

  • Experience working in a shop or with fleet vehicles with basic understanding of vehicle systems, such as engine, brakes, transmissions, electrical.

  • Willingness to learn and grow under guidance of experienced technicians.


 


Duties and Responsibilities


The Mechanic I possessing the education and experience listed above performs the following:


 



  • Safely operate and maintain company vehicles as required for job duties, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company policies

  • Gain hands-on experience performing FAI/CVI (Federal Annual Inspection/Commercial Vehicle Inspection) on all fleet.

  • Assist in performing high-quality maintenance repairs under the guidance of the Fleet Technician II & III, and Lead Technician to enhance vehicle safety and reliability.

  • Learn to conduct preventive maintenance inspections following company procedures while working under the direction of experience fleet personnel.

  • Learn to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and software.

  • Inspect and top off engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and other necessary fluids.

  • Keep the work area clean and organized.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts used in maintenance logs or fleet management systems.

  • Participate in training programs to develop technical sills and stay updated on best practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.


 


 


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements


The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:


 



  • Move about the jobsite as needed.

  • Move work related equipment up to 50lbs.

  • Remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.

  • Operate various technological devices, including but not limited to a computer.

  • Occasionally ascend/descend ladders and/or stairs.
