Description

CLX Engineering is seeking an experienced Mechanic I to join our electrical field team. This role is ideal for a skilled electrical professional who has a strong foundation in electrical installation and is ready to take on routine assignments with limited supervision while continuing to expand their technical expertise.

As a Mechanic I, you will install electrical systems and equipment, support project execution, assist with testing and troubleshooting activities, and help ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. You'll also have opportunities to mentor Helpers and Apprentices while continuing to develop your knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, and troubleshooting techniques.

What You'll Do

  • Install conduit, cable, wire, supports, devices, and electrical equipment
  • Read basic electrical drawings and installation details
  • Complete routine electrical installations with limited supervision
  • Identify commonly used materials and installation requirements
  • Perform basic measurements and layout activities
  • Assist with electrical testing and troubleshooting
  • Recognize installation issues and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Provide guidance to Helpers and Apprentices on routine tasks
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and project documentation
  • Follow all safety, quality, and productivity standards

Requirements

  • Approximately four or more years of relevant electrical installation experience
  • Experience installing EMT, PVC, and basic rigid conduit
  • Experience installing branch circuit wiring
  • Experience installing electrical devices and lighting systems
  • Ability to read and interpret simple electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of basic electrical layout practices
  • Understanding of basic electrical systems
  • Experience performing basic continuity testing
  • Proficiency using electrical test instruments safely
  • Ability to identify installation deficiencies and concerns
