Mechanic Shop Helper 

Job Summary:
Under direction, performs basic shop helper duties for Fleet Mechanics and Fleet Manager
Ability to:
• Clean and maintain the garage area and equipment.
• Inventory supplies and materials for the garage; research, compare and locate parts, equipment, and vehicles.
• Recognize Occupational hazards and standard safety procedures.
• Use various hand and power-driven shop tools.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a shop environment; occasional field environment with some travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.
Physical:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a mechanic shop environment; walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch,
crawl, climb, reach, and twist; push, pull, lift, and/or carry moderate to heavy amounts of weights; operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bilingual preferred, valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Experience: Minimum one years of responsible shop helper experience/exposure
