Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 2 /3 for the development and ongoing support of new and existing designs used in surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems for the US Navy based out of Sunnyvale, CA. The prospective candidate will work with a group of incredible people with backgrounds in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerothermal, Acoustics, Structural and Systems Engineers. The prospective candidate researches, develops, designs, and test components, equipment, and systems.\n\nWhat You\u2019ll get to do:\n\n * Design of propulsion and power generation hardware using solid modeling tools.\n * Select and evaluate materials suitable for underwater systems.\n * Participate in the resolution of technical and complex issues related to hardware.\n * Participate in the generation and revision of engineering drawings, reports, and procedures.\n * Interface directly with customer and management to status activities.\n * Coordinate planning and scheduling of major activities.\n * Occasional domestic travel will be required.\n\n\n\nThis position requires the candidate to be full time on-site \n\nThis requisition may be filled at a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 2 or a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 3 based on qualifications listed below:\n\nBasic Qualifications for Mechanical Design Engineer Level 2:\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years related experience; or Master\u2019s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with no related experience.\n * Demonstrated experience with task planning and execution to meet schedule requirements.\n * Ability to work independently on projects with minimal lead or management oversight.\n * Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance.\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications for Mechanical Design Engineer Level 3:\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years related experience; or Master\u2019s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 3 years related experience. or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with no related experience.\n * Demonstrated experience with task planning and execution to meet schedule requirements.\n * Ability to work independently on projects with minimal lead or management oversight.\n * US citizenship required.\n * Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Experience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent)\n * Experience in ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 Dimensioning, Tolerancing, and Engineering Drawing Practices\n * Experience in developing design concepts, performing trade studies, and conducting evaluations and analyses\n * Strong background in machine design, strength of materials, and materials technology\n * Experience in executing projects in cross-functional matrix organization with other engineering disciplines\n * Experience in technical presentation and interfacing with customers\n * Experience in working with vendors and suppliers\n * Willing to learn Acoustic Analysis, Structural Analysis, and/or Electromagnetic Design\n * An active DOD Secret clearance\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.\n\nThe application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
