PURVIS has an immediate full-time position open for a mid-level Mechanical Designer/Drafter with SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience. The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will be a member of the engineering design/drafting team.
The day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
- Support U.S Navy system designs and development.
- Review government furnished information (GFI) and engineering drawing redlines to incorporate into drawing packages as required.
- Create, update and maintain mechanical drawing packages using Solidworks and AutoCAD.
- Drawing packages may include production drawings, circuit card assemblies, parts Lists, schematic diagrams, assembly and test fixture drawings.
- Develop 3D models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings.
- Ensure drawings comply with standards and practices.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and certificate in drafting.
- 5 - 10 years professional experience
- Ability to work independently, while requiring little rework.
- Ability to review engineering drawings and understand required changes.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD required.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM is a plus.
- Experience with Creo, Autodesk Inventor or other 3D packages is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) preferred.
- Knowledge of existing submarine systems, Military Specifications, and previous defense industry is a plus, but not required.
Candidate must be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
