Job Purpose

Exterior Performance Development Test Engineers are responsible for validating the exterior marketability of vehicles to meet model-specific targets with a goal of meeting or exceeding Honda and Acura customer expectations. You will have an active leadership role in overseeing the testing activities toward gathering full vehicle computational and testing results for exterior systems.

Key Accountabilities

Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends in technical evaluations. Conduct complex root cause analyses to understand and react to testing and simulation results.
Develop test and simulation procedures and standards for complex parts. Understand and explain testing outcomes comprehensively, for example with extensive root cause analysis.
Oversee resources and activities in the scheduling and execution of exterior performance testing and simulation for assigned features and modes. Ensure that the testing equipment is well-managed, maintained, and calibration to guarantee the accuracy of the test.
Prepare documentation independently to record and submit all necessary information to Technical Leadership as the development / research / testing process moves forward.
Conduct the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering specifications, and the evaluation of their effectiveness for assigned complex parts, to inform engineering and manufacturing work in the organization and of its suppliers
Lead a small team of associates and / or contractors as Chief or Theme Project Lead to communicate the outcomes needed and provide direction to achieve them. Coordinate team actions on project tasks, request additional team member support when needed, and identify potential areas for improvement necessary to build the capability of the team (i.e. through training, coaching and mentoring)

Minimum Educational Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
Minimum Experience:
4+ years of engineering experience including co-op/internship or equivalent
Other Job-Specific Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience in data analysis and communication of complex information to engineering management is desired.
Experience with following software or similar is desired

3D CAD surface modeling CATiA or SolidWorks
Data acquisition software NI Lab View, NI Diadem, Simcenter TestLab
CFD Software Star-CCM+
FEA Software Abaqus, Nastran, Hypermesh, Ansa, Meta, LS-DYNA
Scripting in Java, Python, MATLAB

Ability to communicate concerns and ideas through remote work environment
