This position is responsible for detailed design and documentation from conception, to prototype, to pre-production, as well as changes to design & documentation during production and for the life of the product. Product development includes electro/mechanical equipment such as computers, displays, test equipment, test fixtures, and other computer peripherals. Previous technical experience with military computing technology is highly desired. Duties and Responsibilities
Design Layout: Perform layout drafting/design and specification of parts. Provide detailed part fabrication drawings, Work Instructions, assembly drawings, proposal drawings, purchased part specifications, part number creation, Source Control Drawings, and Bills of Material. Attend design reviews and execute on action items.
Prototyping: Build and/or assist with prototypes during the Product Development Cycle. Capture data for documentation and/or changes for the design.
Testing: Conduct and /or oversee environmental testing of product prototypes in the Engineering Lab and/or outside lab facilities.
Product Specification: Assist Sales/Marketing in the creation of Product Specification Documents.
Product Configuration: Assist Sales/Marketing in the creation of Product Quotes.
Changes: Revise/Change designs and documentation through Engineering Change Process.
Quality: Involvement in the Quality Process through the attendance of meetings, training, and auditing.
Comprehension of System Level Procedures and Work Instructions for Engineering processes as well as other departmental processes that may affect Engineering and/or the Product Development Cycle.
Sustaining Engineering: Continuous support for existing product or product lines for issues such as End of Life, Internal/External customer changes or revisions, and new configurations.
Product Support: Assist Sales/Marketing/Reps by visiting with external customers on behalf of Engineering.
Research and Development: Keep up-to-date technically through publications, seminars, trade shows, Internet, vendors, distributors, manufacturers/reps, organizations, broadcasting, continuous education, and apply new knowledge to job/projects/products/processes.
Required Education & Experience
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 5+ years of experience related to packaging of electronic equipment/systems
Computer Aided Drafting/Design/Engineering courses and up-to-date knowledge of current AutoCAD and Inventor or equivalent Solid Modeling packages
ASME and Specifically- Y14 Series, ISO and Specifically- 9001, ASTM, ANSI, SAE, and EIA.
Design: Design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, design layout, drawings, and models. Precision sheet metal and CNC milling design.
Prototyping: Assembly techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing a working model, including testing/evaluation for design verification.
Effective verbal and written communication and technical writing ability using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
