Strategy Engineering & Consulting LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (0–5 years’ experience) to join our growing team. This role will support the design, procurement, and fabrication of equipment for onshore and offshore oil & gas facilities, as well as emerging renewable energy projects.

Oil & gas experience is preferred but not required — we value problem solvers with strong technical skills, integrity, and a willingness to learn.

Job Overview/Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to all phases of project execution — from conceptual design and detailed engineering to procurement support, fabrication, and field execution. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective designs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Contribute to conceptual engineering, FEED, and detailed design for onshore and offshore facilities (Greenfield and Brownfield).

  • Size, specify, and prepare datasheets for mechanical/process equipment (vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, blowers, utilities, etc.).

  • Develop technical specifications, requisitions, and bid evaluations for equipment packages.

  • Perform engineering calculations including hydraulics, relief/vent sizing, PSV and control valve sizing, tank venting, and supervision of pipe stress analysis.

  • Prepare and review P&IDs, flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and offshore modification permit packages (SFDs, SAFE charts, fire & gas layouts, permit letters).

  • Conduct engineering studies, hazard/risk assessments, debottlenecking analyses, and regulatory compliance checks (BSEE, USCG, ABS).

  • Prepare bid packages and review vendor drawings for compliance with project requirements.

  • Coordinate with drafting/design teams to deliver accurate drawings and layouts.

  • Monitor and report progress against project scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Support procurement, vendor interfaces, and regulatory submittals.

  • Perform site visits (onshore and offshore) to collect data, survey existing facilities, and support upgrades or modifications.

  • Provide assistance during construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.

  • Conduct vendor shop inspections to verify compliance with specifications.

  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated designs.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to planning and execution strategies.

Job requirements

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

  • 0–5 years of relevant engineering experience (oil & gas preferred, but not required).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced); working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Project.

  • Strong analytical, detail-oriented, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Ability to work multiple projects, work overtime as needed, and travel 10–20% (typical) or as required by project.

  • Commitment to company core values: quality, integrity, customer commitment, innovation, and culture.

Preferred Skills

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.

  • Familiarity with Caesar II, Unisim, HYSYS, Promax, or PipeSim.

  • Experience in LNG/cryogenic facilities, renewable natural gas (RNG), or CO₂ capture/storage.

    Working Conditions

    • Office-based (not hybrid), with periodic travel to onshore plants and offshore platforms.

    • Fieldwork may involve outdoor environments, production facilities, and exposure to noise, climate extremes, and industrial equipment.

    • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

    • Occasional out-of-town travel required.
