Mechanical Engineer HVAC/Plumbing Design

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading mechanical contractor in the Atlanta market. In this role, you’ll design and develop HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for commercial and light industrial projects. You will perform load calculations, equipment selections, energy simulations, and layout design while working closely with CAD/Revit detailers, senior engineers, project managers, and field personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop project engineering scope in collaboration with senior staff.

• Perform load calculations

• Select HVAC equipment and size ductwork, piping, and plumbing systems.

• Coordinate mechanical requirements with architects, electrical, structural, and civil teams.

• Conduct job site visits and prepare field reports.

• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.

• Support CAD/Revit design efforts and review documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).

• 3+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical system design.

• Familiarity with design tools.

• Engineer in Training (EIT/FE) certification or plans to complete within 2 years.

• Strong communication skills with ability to work independently and on teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with energy modeling and/or life-cycle cost analysis.

• Exposure to plumbing system design (domestic water, sanitary, vent).

• Knowledge of cost impacts of system selection.
