Mechanical/Civil Data Engineer Hybrid, 2 remote days, 3 onsite in Frankfort, KY Contract to Hire Start Date: ASAP
Brooksource's state agency client is looking to bring in an EIT into their central office in Frankfort, KY. Within this role, you will help lead the charge to a cleaner data environment for the cabinet as they continue to modernize to a more digital environment. Starting with data aggregation (in the field), and helping manipulate, visualize, and organize data for the use of the rest of the cabinet. This role has upward mobility from EIT I - Transportation/Structural Engineering Specialist and intention of conversion to full-time.
Day to Day: (70% data-programming work - 30% going into the field) First six months will be focused on training on-site, conducting pavement condition field inspections, and aggregating/collecting data in the field. After the first six months you'll work to manipulate/analyze data using programming languages and perform quality control for testing data. Learns under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer (LPE) to review field inspections to confirm load ratings for varying structures (overpasses, bridges, etc.). Reviews, analyzes, and performs complex engineering work to develop practical skills within the specialized area of planning, design, structures, bridge maintenance, and asphalt foundations to ensure compliance with all necessary guidelines. Oversees portions of specific engineering related functional areas to analyze data and ensure conformance to approved plans and engineering standards. Performs structural analysis to determine the safe load carrying capacity of bridge sized structures. Receives and reviews district request for bridge load rating. Assists districts and central office staff with bridge safety inspections and fracture critical inspections with rope access.
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in engineering; Civil, Mechanical, and Structural preferred Advanced Excel knowledge (v-lookup, visual basic, etc.) 1-6 years of professional engineering experience Local to Frankfort for training 3 days in-office, 2 days remote Throughout the year; 6-8 weeks of state-wide travel, 3-weeks of overnights, In-State Vehicle provided

Engineer in Training certificate (EIT) Data/Programming Language experience: Oracle SQL, Python, Big Query Masters degree in Structural Engineering (Allows candidate to start as EIT II) CAD Experience Ex: Microstation, Auto-Cad, Math-CAD
