A prestigious law firm in Denver is seeking a talented Associate to join its Mechanical Engineering Practice Group. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated attorney with a strong engineering background to work on complex patent matters with globally recognized clients.

Responsibilities

Prepare and prosecute patent applications related to mechanical and engineering inventions. Conduct interviews with inventors to understand and protect new ideas. Advocate for clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Draft and amend patent claims and analyze prior art for key concepts. Participate in patent litigation by providing technical support and related client counseling.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering (medical device focus preferred). Strong academic credentials (minimum 3.0 GPA); advanced degrees are a significant plus. 4-6 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience. Licensed to practice law in Illinois or eligible to sit for the Illinois Bar; admission to practice before the USPTO. Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
