Design the Systems That Power Modern Buildings

Have you ever wanted to be a Partner in an Engineering Firm? Have you ever wanted to stand out in the firm as opposed to being just another engineer? Our client is seeking a Licensed Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) who wants to be a Partner in the firm. They are looking for someone with strong hands-on design experience in building systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diving deep into HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection design and taking projects from concept through construction.

You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop high-quality engineered solutions for commercial, institutional, industrial, and healthcare facilities while mentoring junior engineers and helping ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

If you enjoy technical design work, BIM modeling, and solving real-world engineering challenges, this role offers an excellent opportunity to make an impact.

What You’ll Do

As the Mechanical PE, you’ll take a lead role in the design and engineering of building mechanical systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection systems for building projects

  • Perform HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, and equipment selections

  • Create detailed construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using AutoCAD and Revit (BIM)

  • Conduct site visits and field observations to support project execution

  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and construction documentation

  • Work closely with electrical, civil, and structural engineering teams for coordinated design

  • Mentor junior engineers and designers and perform QA/QC reviews

  • Participate in client meetings and project coordination to ensure schedules and budgets are met

Required Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) License – Mechanical Engineering

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited program preferred)

  • Strong design experience in HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection systems

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit (BIM modeling)

  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, NFPA codes, and mechanical building codes

  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred / Bonus Experience

  • Forensic engineering or failure analysis experience

  • LEED accreditation or sustainable building design knowledge

  • Experience with energy modeling software (Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, etc.)

  • Background in construction administration or field coordination

  • Experience with multiple project sectors (commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial)

  • Client-facing or business development experience

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Standard hours: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM Monday–Thursday

  • Half day Fridays: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM

  • Optional 4x10 schedule available

  • Minimal travel (primarily regional site visits)
