Job Description - Mechanical Engineer, PhD (Early in Career)

What You\u2019ll Do\n\nAs a Mechanical Engineer, you\u2019ll be at the forefront of innovation, working with a team of talented professionals to solve complex problems. You\u2019ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to design and optimize mechanical devices, machines, and systems. You will take on exciting challenges, from conducting research and analyzing data to creating detailed technical drawings and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to excellence will enable you to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, making a tangible impact on the success of our projects. Visit our Engineering Careers page to learn more about engineering at Applied.\n\nRole Responsibilities:\n\n * Own mechanical design of tool subassemblies and modules (chambers, heaters, pedestals, gas panels, shields, frames)\n * Perform 3D CAD design and release (NX / UG preferred)\n * Execute tolerance analysis, stack\u2011ups, and GD\u0026T\n * Conduct FEA / thermal / structural / flow analysis as needed\n * Drive prototype build, lab testing, and validation\n * Support design reviews and ELS/HVM readiness\n * Interface with: \n * Manufacturing \u0026 supply chain\n * Process Engineering\n * Systems, EE, Safety, Reliability\n * Support field/customer escalations with root\u2011cause fixes\n * Create and maintain drawings, BOMs, specs, ECRs/ECOs\n * Ensure design for manufacturability, serviceability, cost, and reliability\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * Graduating with a Ph.D\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field\n * Good academic standing with a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Previous exposure to 3D CAD tool\n * Experience on mechanical/thermal/flow analysis\n * Previous internship or related field experience\n * Demonstrated leadership experience\n * Able to solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions\n * Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information\n * Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus\n * Flexible and adaptable mindset who thrives in a results-driven culture\n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n4 - 7 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\n10-Day 8-Hr (United States of America)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nYes, 10% of the Time\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nYes\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nNone\n\nU.S. Salary Range:\n\n$124,000.00 - $171,000.00\n\nThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
