Job Description - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:                     Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Department:              Maintenance
Supervisor:                 Maintenance Manager

JOB PURPOSE
Position involves practical, hands-on engineering, problem solving, and supervising technical staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY

Routine maintenance of plant, equipment, machinery
Designing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
Scheduling planned and unplanned work
Diagnosing breakdown problems
Directing and/or instructing and supervising Maintenance Technicians
Familiar with standard maintenance methodologies, equipment design, installation, and project management
Recordkeeping
Must communicate with supervisors and coworkers
Supervising projects while working hands on with team
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required.)

Education/ Required: 4 year post secondary education, or equivalent experience. Licensure/ Credentials	Required: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Experience	Required: At least 5 years mechanical engineer experience

Knowledge/
Skills

Required: Equipment installation and preventative-predictive maintenance knowledge.
Able to read blueprints and technical documentation with understanding process operations and maintenance.
Basic knowledge of Windows, Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, and CAD Systems.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employee will receive job specific training including safety, work rules, ethics, compliance, computer system, and other related topics.

EVALUATIONS
Performance evaluations will be completed by the immediate supervisor by ongoing assessment of proficiency and performance.
