We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator with expertise in the plumbing and mechanical engineering space to join our team. As a Plumbing and Mechanical Estimator, you will play a vital role in accurately estimating the costs associated with plumbing and mechanical systems for construction projects. Your in-depth knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems, along with your proficiency in estimating techniques and software, will contribute to the success and profitability of our projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Analysis: Review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand the scope, requirements, and constraints of plumbing and mechanical systems for construction projects.
2. Cost Estimation: Utilize industry-standard estimating techniques and software to accurately calculate material, labor, and equipment costs for plumbing and mechanical systems, including piping, fixtures, equipment, and HVAC systems.
3. Quantity Takeoff: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for plumbing and mechanical components, including piping, fittings, valves, pumps, and HVAC equipment, based on project plans and specifications.
4. Vendor/Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain quotes and pricing information from vendors and subcontractors for plumbing and mechanical materials and services. Evaluate proposals and negotiate pricing to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
5. Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering in plumbing and mechanical systems without compromising quality or performance. Recommend alternative materials or methods to achieve cost-effective solutions.
6. Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids and proposals for plumbing and mechanical scopes of work, including detailed breakdowns of costs, labor hours, and timelines. Ensure accuracy and completeness of bid documents.
7. Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to clarify project requirements, address questions or concerns, and present estimates and proposals in a professional manner.
8. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and timelines related to plumbing and mechanical systems. Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address risks proactively.
9. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimate data, bid documents, correspondence with clients and subcontractors, and project-related documentation. Ensure compliance with company procedures and standards.
10. Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, procurement specialists, and other team members to ensure alignment between estimates, project plans, and client expectations. Provide technical support and expertise as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
