Media Editorial Support Technician II
Walt Disney Animation Studios combines the very best in artistry and storytelling with cutting- edge technology to bring wonderful new stories to the big screen for audiences around the world. The Post Production team is looking to bring on board a Media Editorial Support Technician II (IATSE 700) to provide support in the transfer rooms, screening rooms, as well as operator/ editorial support. In this position you will work with a wide range of systems and technologies in support of Disney Animation productions.
Responsibilities:
Systems and Technical Operations: Provide digital file and audio export, duplication, and coordination for presentations. Operate computer-based non-linear editing systems (Avid), transfer/dub facilitation, and remote DDR file operation (Clipster & Transkoder). Expertise in digital audio/video post-production, Digital Cinema Servers (Dolby), KDM/DCP management via Hanalei, and remote operation of Christie projectors.
Support, Communication, and Coordination: Provide first-class technical support and daily customer service, including complaint handling. Assist Editorial and Post-Production staff in planning presentations. Coordinate work according to workflow priority and provide regular status updates to management regarding work-in-progress and potential issues.
Workflow Optimization: Apply knowledge of industry trends to improve client service. Identify system deficiencies and implement solutions with in-house technicians. Proactively suggest changes to Transfer and Screening room workflows to improve general efficiency and daily operations.
Required Qualifications
Ability to utilize test and measurement equipment for continuity and propagation purposes (Spectrum analyzer, Waveform Vector scope, etc.)
Working knowledge and fundamentals of film, video, audio production, post production and presentation environment
Working knowledge of Unix, Linux, MAC OS 9, and OS X, and Windows NT, 2000, XP operating systems
Basic knowledge of animation process
Must be able to work under stress with a variety of personalities while maintaining a positive professional attitude
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through with every request
Ability to present in large group settings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to accommodate production needs
Ability to work independently with little supervision and make immediate decisions
Must be able to pivot on projects/events quickly given a high pace environment that is constantly evolving.
Ability and willingness to cross-train and mentor others
Must be able to work under tight time constraints with the ability to deliver excellent service
Experienced and excellent signal flow and troubleshooting skills
Teamwork skills are a necessity
Available to work overtime as necessary
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge and fundamentals of Digital Cinema, video and audio production and presentation environment, including but not limited to analog and digital video, interlaced, progressive and segmented frame, High Definition Video formats, issues relating to pull up/pull down and various sample rates
Education
High School or a minimum of two years of equivalent work experience
